Before using an SD card or checking whether it needs formatting, make sure that its lock tab is in the
“unlocked” position.

11.2 Formatting An SD Card
WARNING!
Formatting an SD card erases everything on the card. Once an SD card is formatted, any contents that
were on it cannot be recovered. Always make a backup of the data on an SD card before reformatting it.
1.
Make sure the SD card is not locked.
2.
Place the SD card into an adapter and connect it to a computer’s USB port.
3.
Double-click the “Computer” icon on the computer’s desktop.
4.
The list of Devices with Removable Storage should include your SD card with a title of
“Removable Disk” or a name that indicates the SD card.
