TC-800 | TC-1100 Radar Speed Sign Installation Manual MN0035 v23.02

Pole Options

Selecting a Pole Type

The radar speed sign can be mounted on a 4.5" O.D. (minimum) or larger outside diameter round pole The pole
length should be a minimum of 15 feet . When using a solar sign, the ideal length is 15 feet above the ground.

Pole Mounting Options

Due to the extremes of weather and terrain conditions that might exist, Radarsign does not recommend any specific
pole or hardware for installation of our signs.  It is the responsibility of the user to install the necessary pole size to
provide adequate support for the sign.

NOTE: Solar models need larger, stronger poles as there is 7.5-12

square feet of surface on the sign itself depending on the model, plus the square feet of surface of the solar
panel.

A 24" x 30" regulatory speed limit sign adds another 5 square feet of surface.  A 30" x 36" regulatory speed limit sign
adds another 7.5 square feet of surface.

A breakaway base should anchor the pole you select. There are several manufacturers of this type of system, and
most city, county, and state DOT agencies require this type of pole base system for ANY sign mounted on a street
right-of-way.

Installing and Positioning the Radar Speed Sign

NOTE: The sign and pole sh

ould always be placed on the SAME

SIDE of the road

as on-coming traffic.

Pole Installation

Once you have selected your pole, mark the pole with pencil or tape
at the 7 foot minimum height level. Position the

bottom of the radar

speed sign

MINIMUM

of 7 feet from the ground.

Seven feet is a minimum for most city and county regulations for
street signs. This will produce the most accurate readings from the
radar in detecting on-coming vehicles.

Bottom of the sign
