Tips
-
Do not put the foods on top of each other. Make sure that they are spread out on the
tray and do not touch each other. Otherwise, the drying time is considerably longer and
the quality might not be optimal.
-
Put similar foods on the trays, for example, do not dry fruit and meat together.
-
Check that the foods are completely “dry” (dried) before removing them from the trays.
In case of doubt, cut one piece in half and check that also the inner part is completely
“dry”.
-
Label the containers in which the dried food will be preserved.
-
Correct preservation helps maintain the quality of the food. Drying allows preserving
the food for a longer time provided they are stored in a cool, dark and dry place. The
ideal storage temperature is 16°C or lower.
-
Put the dried foods in freezer bags before putting them in metal or glass containers.
Remove as much air as possible before sealing them; vacuum sealing is the best way to
preserve dried foods.
-
The drying process reduces the size and weight of the foods by 25-50%, so do not cut
them into too small pieces.
HOW TO STORE THE DRIED FOODS
Before storing the dried foods, check that they have completely dried and cooled down, which
is essential for good storage.
It is also very important to prevent the dried foods from absorbing moisture during storage.
Glass storage containers or plastic bags must be hermetically sealed. The best solution would
be to use a vacuum packing machine to seal plastic bags with dried foods.
