Creating a Typical
Backup Configuration
Before you can begin using the DXi6701/DXi6702 for backups, you must configure the
system.
To configure the DXi for VTL (virtual tape library), see the following sections:

Installed System Licenses
The following licenses are either installed by default on the system or available through
an included license certificate:
• NAS License
• VTL License
• Backup Application Specific License
• Data Deduplication License
• Replication License
• Storage Capacity License (8 to 80 TB)
• License Certificate for OST
Note:
To verify the licenses that are installed on the DXi6701/DXi6702 system, in the
remote management console, navigate to the
Utilities > License Keys
page.
Using the VTL Wizard
The
VTL
wizard provides guided assistance for configuring the DXi6701/DXi6702 to
present its storage as one or more VTL (Virtual Tape Library) partitions for use with a
backup application. The wizard guides you through the process of adding one or more
VTL partitions, adding virtual media, discovering hosts, and mapping partitions to hosts.
To begin the
VTL
wizard, on the
Wizards
menu, click
VTL
.
