piano.
The
di
ff
erences
are
rela vely
small,
and
an
installer
familiar
with
the
procedure
for
installa on
in
a
grand
piano
should
have
no
di
ffi
culty
comple ng
this
type
of
installa on.
The
di
ff
erences
are
as
follows:
1.
In
a
ver cal
piano,
the
en re
mechanism
is
hidden
from
view
within
the
cabinetry
of
the
piano
itself,
and
conse
‐
quently
the
installer
can
place
the
components
anywhere
it
makes
sense
to
do
so.
2.
Since
the
mechanism
is
hidden
from
view,
no
solenoid
rail
cover
is
required.
3.
The
trapwork
is
very
di
ff
erent
from
that
of
a
grand
piano,
and
requires
the
installer
to
use
a
special
pedal
solenoid
bracket
made
speci
fi
cally
for
the
upright.
This
is
a
special
order
item!
4.
In
a
ver cal
piano,
the
en re
kit
is
installed
below
the
keybed.
In
most
cases,
the
back
rail
and
back
rail
cloth
should
be
relocated
toward
the
back
edge
of
the
piano
keys.
IMPORTANT********
care
must
be
taken
to
fi
rst
measure
the
key
dip
at
the
back
end
of
the
keys
before
any
work
begins.
Secondly,
a er
the
back
rail
has
been
relocated,
you
must
ensure
that
the
key
dip
is
exactly
the
same
as
it
was
before
star ng.
If
it
is
not,
you
must
either
trim
the
back
rail
or
shim
it
up
to
its
original
measurement.
5.
Special
upright
driver
board
moun ng
brackets
are
required
for
moun ng
the
driver
boards
to
the
solenoid
rail.
These
brackets
are
3”
long
and
will
allow
the
driver
board
and
chassis
to
hang
below
the
solenoid
rail
when
completed.
6.
SPECIAL
NOTE****
If
the
driver
boards
are
mounted
upside
down,
you
can
reverse
the
playing
order
of
the
notes
by
selec ng
“Invert
Keybed”
in
the
“Playback
Parameters”
sec on
of
PMII.
7.
The
power
supply
and
the
processor
board
are
mounted
inside
the
cabinet
of
the
piano
in
any
place
convenient
to
the
installer.
Make
sure
the
electrical
cables
do
not
interfere
with
any
of
the
mechanical
levers
within
the
piano.
8.
It
is
necessary
to
cut
a
1”
hole
directly
through
the
soundboard
of
the
piano
towards
the
bo om
of
the
piano
at
the
end
where
the
power
supply
is
mounted.
This
will
allow
the
main
power
plug
to
easily
be
plugged
into
a
wall
outlet.
This
hole
will
not
a
ff
ect
the
sound
of
the
piano
in
any
way.
9.
Alignment
of
the
solenoid
rail
is
made
by
laying
a
wooden
s ck
at
the
top
back
edge
of
the
keys
and
carefully
trans
‐
ferring
the
centerline
of
each
key
onto
the
wooden
s ck.
This
s ck
will
become
your
alignment
s ck,
and
these
marks
will
be
used
to
locate
the
proper
posi on
for
you
solenoids.
Remember
that
a
standard
installa on
is
80
notes
and
the
pianos
88
notes.
Start
with
note
#5
and
end
with
note
#84
and
slide
each
pair
of
solenoids
in
direct
alignment
with
your
marks
on
the
alignment
s ck
and
ghten
the
11/32”
nuts.
10.
Smaller
speakers
are
supplied
with
the
upright
kit.
