1 Description
The 6QBI QUICS Board Interface is a microprocessor-based system that is part of
the QEI family of Distribution Automation Products. It communicates with the QEI
ePAQ-9410/942x (or MicroPAQ-940P) and operates QEI Legacy QUICS-4000 6AIP1
(Analog), 6SIP1 (Status), 6COP1 (Control), and 6IOP1 I/O panels. When combined
with a 6PIB1 and the appropriate firmware, it can also operate with older QUICS-
3000 I/O panels (6AMP, 6SMP and 6ROP)
The 6QBI allows the user to replace an existing QEI 6CPPX Central Processing
Panel (6CPP2/3/4/6) in a legacy RTU system and upgrade it to an ePAQ-9410/942x
or MicroPAQ-
940P, to benefit from QEI’s latest RTU technologies, without the need
for changing out the legacy panels.
Like the 6CPPX interface it replaces, the 6QBI supports all QUICS-4000 panel
models as well as the same number of each I/O panel per RTU, along with all the
same functionality for the panels. With the QUICS-3000 series panels the number of
status points is limited to 320. For analogs and control points, the 6QBI supports up
to the maximum allowable via a 6PIB1.
When paired with the MicroPAQ-940P, the 6QBI can be retrofit to replace a 6CPPX
within the existing space in the RTU cabinet.
The 6QBI includes two RS-422 communications ports for communication with an
ePAQ-9410/2x or MicroPAQ-940P. These two ports may also be used in redundant
configurations. A USB port is available for local test and diagnostics via any PC
terminal software. Included LED indicators show RS-422 communications traffic (i.e.,
TX, RX) and on-board diagnostics. A serial fiber port is also an available option and
a microSD card slot is included for firmware updates.
Requiring only the configuration of the MicroPAQ-940P or ePAQ-9410/942x local I/O
clients, the 6QBI is designed to allow these multifunction gateway RTU models to
transparently interface with QUICS-3000 or QUICS-4000 I/O Panels (6PIB1
Required).
