2870 WALKAROUND
Transom Door
A transom door is incorporated into the stern seat and
tranom area of the boat. The transom door should only
be operated when the boat is not in motion. The door
must be latched in either the full “OPEN” or full
“CLOSED” position. Never leave the transom door
unlatched.
Note: Periodically inspect the transom door fittings for wear, damage, or loose fit. Any
problems should be inspected and corrected immediately.
THE TRANSOM DOOR SHOULD BE CLOSED AND PROPERLY LATCHED WHENEVER THE
ENGINE(S) ARE RUNNING. NEVER OPEN THE TRANSOM DOOR WHILE UNDERWAY OR
IN ROUGH SEA CONDITIONS. IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS, AN OPEN TRANSOM DOOR
COULD ALLOW A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF WATER TO ENTER THE COCKPIT CRE-
ATING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION.
OPERATING THE BOAT UNDER POWER WITH THE TRANSOM DOOR OPEN MAY AL-
LOW PERSONS TO FALL OVERBOARD AND INTO BOAT PROPELLERS OR TO BE LOST
IN OPEN WATER. ALWAYS CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE TRANSOM DOOR IS PROP-
ERLY CLOSED AND LATCHED BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINES AND NEVER OPERATE
THE BOAT UNDER POWER WITH THE TRANSOM DOOR OPEN.
