OPERATION
3.6.3 Conditional Sensor Purge
In order to ensure consistently fast measurement response speeds after power Off/On,
the sensor will not be automatically purged when the measured dew point is deemed to
be sufficiently close to the previously measured dew point.
3.7
Battery Management
The battery will typically provide 48 hours of continuous operation from full charge.
When the battery approaches discharge, the instrument will display the warning
message ‘
Battery low – recharge now’
.
Following this, the instrument will enter a Shutdown Mode, accompanied by an audible
beep. This mode will disable the operation of the keypad and display backlight, preventing
further usage of the unit. Upon connecting the instrument to the battery charger it will
exit Shutdown Mode within 30 seconds.
When Shutdown Mode occurs, connect the instrument to the battery charger as soon
as possible to prevent complete discharge. Complete discharge may occur if the unit is
not connected to a battery charger within a 48 hour period - see below.
!
WARNING: If complete discharge does occur, then
difficulties may be encountered when attempting to
recharge the battery.
If this problem is experienced, refer below for a possible
solution.
3.7.1 Battery Troubleshooting
Problem
:
Instrument battery is flat and will not charge.
(NOTE: OLDER FW 7219 MODEL BATTERY CHARGER ONLY)
Cause
:
If the instrument has been left in a completely discharged state for
several days then it is possible that the charger (FW 7219) will not
recharge the battery.
Solution
:
The instrument will need to be connected to a 6 V (500 mA max) power
supply – via its normal charging port – for a maximum of 15 seconds
before switching to the charger (FW 7219), which should now behave
normally.
!
DO NOT leave this 6 V power supply connected to the
instrument for any longer than the recommended 15 seconds
or the battery may be damaged.
NOTE: Michell Instruments will replace the older FW 7219 charger with the
new Cell Con model free of charge. The Cell Con will re-charge batteries which
have completely discharged.
