Limiter

the source from exceeding it by“limiting”it to that threshold. If you’rethinking that
sounds alot likewhat we justtold youa compressordoes,you’recatchingon! A
limiterisdifferentfromacompressorinavery criticalway: Unlikeacompressor,
whichworksgraduallytoreducethesignal,thelimiterpreventsvirtuallyanyincrease
in gain atthe upper end of the dynamic range.Inotherwords,youcantrytoget as
loudas youwant, butthe limiter is going tostopthat volumespikelike abrick wall.
