Plosives.
Plosivesareburstsofairthatarepickedupbythemicrophonethat
soundlikeasortoflowthumporboomingsoundwhenrecorded.Theycanoccur
with any consonant, but occur most commonly when you say‘P’or‘B’sounds.The
audioindustryhasbattledthesenaturalspeecheventsforsolongthatthereisa
specializedhardwaretooltocombatthem:popfilters!Apopfiltersitsbetweenyour
mouth and microphone and slows down and disperses these bursts of air, shielding
the microphone frompicking them up.Theother advantage of apop filter is that
it they can be used formaintaining a fixedposition in frontof your microphone,
and are especially useful when recording with a condenser microphone.
