Pause, Cool Down, Workout Summary, and Exit Features
Pausing, cooling down, and exiting are integral parts of your workout and can be
accessed any time during a course. The EFX goes through several prerequisites
before actually exiting a course.
Pause mode — occurs when you stop pedaling. You can pause any time during your
workout or cool-down period. Use this feature to rest or take a short break. A display
prompt indicates that you are in Pause mode. Any display scans that you previously
selected remain, but the information is not updated and does not change. For
example, TIME stops accruing. You can change what appears on the display using
the SELECT keys. To return to the Precor banner (which exits the course and Pause
mode), press RESET. The

and QUICKSTART keys are ignored.
To resume a workout, move the foot pedals. Hold onto the handrail when you step
onto the foot pedals. Your workout continues from where you left off.
Note: You can remain in Pause mode for up to 10 minutes before the display resets
to the Precor banner.
Cool down mode — automatically appends a five-minute, cool-down period at the
end of a course that has a time limit. If you exit the course prior to its completion, the
cool-down program is not implemented.
Workout Summary display mode — provides a ten-minute time frame in which you
can review your workout data before the display automatically resets to the Precor
banner. The Workout Summary display can be accessed from the Pause or Cool
down modes, or by prematurely exiting a course (pressing RESET). When you
access the Workout Summary display, workout data other than TIME, STRIDES and
CALORIES are reset to zero. (Note that the TIME, STRIDES and CALORIES displays
show the accumulated workout time, total strides and expended calories including
warm-up and cool-down periods.)
The following information shows what happens when you press certain keys while
in the various modes.
This is what happens...,
You enter Pause mode and the resistance slowly reduces to a minimum. The display
features that you’ve selected remain and TIME stops accruing. You can remain in
Pause mode for ten minutes. After ten minutes, the EFX exits the course and the
display returns to the Precor banner.
Note: You inadvertently enter Pause mode when you pedal below 20 strides per minute.
You enter Cool down mode. At the start of the cool-down period, the resistance is
reduced by 20 percent. You can adjust the settings using the appropriate

keys.
The display items that you’ve selected remain. You can choose other items by
pressing the appropriate SELECT key.
Note: TIME decrements from five minutes to zero during the Cool-down phase.
Cumulative workout TIME, shown in the WORKOUT SUMMARY display, incorporates
the cool-down period.
You exit the course and the WORKOUT SUMMARY appears on the display.
This is what happens...,
You return to the course and continue from where you left off. The resistance and
ramp incline return to the levels set prior to entering Pause mode.
You exit Pause mode and the WORKOUT SUMMARY appears on the display.
