Operation
At outdoor temperatures below 0°C, let the machine idle for approximately five minutes
to allow the hydraulic system to reach the correct operating temperature (the hydraulic pipes
will then be warm to the touch).
Splitting process
Only one person may operate the machine at a time.
Ensure that no other people are in the vicinity of the machine.
Do not reach under the splitting tool; always grasp the log from the side.
▪ Place the log upright onto the pressure plate below the splitting knife between the two
handles. Check the nature of the log (knots etc.).
Log stands upright by itself:
▪ Move the log the right position using the two handles.
▪ Push both handles downwards at the same time.
– The splitting knife advances and splits the log.
– As soon as one handle is released, the splitting knife halts.
▪ Release the two handles to retract the splitting knife again.
Log does not stand upright by itself:
▪ Clamp the log by pressing the timber retaining tip down.
Notes on splitting
Never split angle-cut wood.
Logs must always be split lengthways.
Splitting extremely crooked wood:
▪ split the billets from the edge.
Remove jammed wood from the splitting blade with a striking tool.
