OPERATION
Driving with Passengers
1. Complete the New
Operator Driving
Procedures outlined on
pages 52-53.
2. Perform the pre-ride
inspection. See page 48.
3. Do not carry more than
one passenger in a 2-seat
vehicle. Do not carry
more than three passen-
gers in a 4-seat vehicle.
Additional passengers
can affect the operator’s
ability to steer and oper-
ate the controls.
4. Make sure all passengers
are at least 12 years of
age. All riders must be
able to sit with backs
against the seat, both feet
flat on the floor and both
hands on the steering wheel (if driving) or on a passenger hand
hold.
5. The driver and all passengers must wear helmet, eye protection,
gloves, long-sleeve shirt, long pants, over-the-ankle boots and seat
belt at all times. See page 8.
6. Make sure all passengers secure their seat belts.
7. Make sure all cab nets are properly secured.
8. Allow a passenger to ride only in a passenger seat.
9. Slow down. Always travel at a speed appropriate for your skills,
your passengers’ skills and operating conditions. Avoid unexpected
or aggressive maneuvers that could cause discomfort or injury to a
passenger.
10. Vehicle handling may change with passengers and/or cargo on
board. Allow more time and distance for braking.
11. Always follow all operating guidelines as outlined on safety labels
and in this manual.
