Cultivator / Tiller Operation

Before use, ensure that there are no electrical cables, gas or water pipes etc or other buried
or unseen hazards in the work area. Contact the applicable utility providers for assistance

. •

The machine should be operated on ground that is suitable for tilling. Do not attempt to till through set
concrete, rock or other extremely hard surfaces. • The tiller axles can be changed in length to widen or
reduce the width of the tilled earth. • Do not use attachments or accessories beyond those supplied with the
machine.

The machine is used for loosening the ground and for creating planting
beds (ploughing). The machine is designed for manual operation, where
the operator both holds and controls it. Note the following:

Adjust the throttle, which controls the speed of tiller/wheel rotation
and movement speed of the machine, only when ready to begin tilling.

Guide the machine as straight as possible when in use to
ensure even tilling/ploughing.

Always check the tiller blades and accessories before
tilling. Sharpen or replace any worn or damaged
components. Do not use if damaged in any way.

Place the front wheel in the raised position for tilling and
ploughing. To change front wheel position, remove the
locking pin and split pin (

A

). Lift the front of the wheel

upwards until the locking pin can be inserted through the
lower hole. Bend the legs of the split pin over to prevent it
falling out.

Adjust the handlebar to a comfortable position (waist-height is generally good).

If the machine is "jumping forward" during tilling, press down on the handlebars to increase pressure at
the rear of the machine.

If the machine is getting "stuck" during tilling or ploughing, move the handlebars side to side.

When turning the machine, release the clutch lever (disengage the drive system), then push down on the
handlebars to bring the machine weight towards you, then pivot the machine.

To till:

1.  Install the tillers and depth gauge and place the front wheel in the lifted position.

2.  Start the machine and allow it to warm up.

3.  Position the machine in the required location, in the direction you want to travel.

4.  Holding the handlebar firmly with both hands use the throttle, clutch and gearbox to activate and control

the tilling action. Adjust the throttle for the desired tilling rate and movement speed.

5.  Release the clutch

– this disengages the tilling action and machine drive system.

To plough:

1.  Install the wheels and plough and place the front wheel in the lifted position.

2.  Start the machine and allow it to warm up.

3.  Position the machine in the required location, in the direction you want to travel.

4.  Holding the handlebar firmly with both hands use the throttle, clutch and gearbox to activate and control

machine speed. Adjust the throttle for the desired ploughing rate and movement speed.

5.  Release the clutch

– this disengages the machine drive system.
