2 • Fo r a DVD time r r eco r ding, if Optimized Rec (see Optimized Rec on p age 141) is set to On (and VPS/PDC is
off), the r eco r de r will adjust the r eco r ding quality to t r y and fit the r eco r ding on the disc. If the r eco r ding will not
fit onto the disc even on MN1 r eco r ding quality ( MN4 fo r DVD+R/+RW) then the Recove r y Reco r ding featu r e
will automatically make the r eco r ding to the HDD instead.
• If the r e is ve r y little f r ee s p ace left on the HDD, an Auto Re p lace Reco r ding may not com p lete successfully.
• If the HDD is being used fo r p layback o r high-s p eed co p ying when an Auto Re p lace Reco r ding is due to sta r t,
the new time r r eco r ding will not r e p lace the old one. Howeve r , the next time the time r r eco r ding sta r ts, both of
the olde r two pr og r ammes will be e r ased.
3 This mode maximizes the r eco r ding quality to fit on to a single DVD disc. Can also be used when r eco r ding to
HDD.
4 • If you set the time r r eco r ding to use VPS/PDC, you must switch the r eco r de r into standby befo r e the time r
r eco r ding is due to sta r t fo r it to wo r k co rr ectly. Fo r non-VPS/PDC time r r eco r dings the r e is no need to switch
the r eco r de r into standby.
• O p timized Reco r ding will not wo r k if VPS/PDC is on.
• U p to eight time r r eco r dings can be set with VPS/PDC.
• VPS/PDC cannot be set fo r r eco r dings made f r om digital b r oadcasts o r an exte r nal in p ut, o r when the
r eco r ding mode is set to AUTO .
