Installing drivers and utilities
To install the device drivers and utilities for the Solaris operating system proceed as follows:
1. Login to your system as root.
2. Load the CDROM into your system CD drive.
3. Mount the CDROM to a mount point, for example
/cdrom
.
4. At the command prompt, type:
pkgadd -d /cdrom/drivers/ultraport/solaris/
x
.
y
.
z
/fast-sol-
x
.
y
.
z.<
arch
>
.pkg comf
,
where x.y.z is the version number of the driver and <
arch
> is the Solaris architecture,
either
i386
for Intel or
sparc
for Sparc stations.
5. Press the
Enter
key.
The system now installs the driver and displays a series of messages ending with a
successful installation message.
Upon installation of the drivers, your UltraPort cards are ready to use.
Note
A re-boot of your system is not necessary as the drivers for your UltraPort card are
dynamically loadable and will be loaded as soon as any software attempts to access the
associated devices.
