Low Ohm
Continuity
A continuity test is used for checking of intact compounds in a non-
active circuit. If all modules are connected correctly, the resistance
should be as low as possible. When the connections are corroded,
charred or badly screwed, the resistance is higher (contact
resistance), which can ultimately lead to fire. Various limits (0.5, 1,
2.5 and 10
) can be set.
mA
The cur
rent display of “Continuity” shows the used test current.
Beeper
The beeper (buzzer) gives an audible signal when the measured
resistance is below the set limit.
Zero
The zero function (zeroing) measures the inherent resistance of the
test leads that will be subtracted from the absolute value to obtain
more precise measurement results.
RE
(RE)
In order to protect an electrical system, it should be properly
connected to the earth ground potential. In the event of a fault
current via the PE grounding can be derived in the ground, which is
important for the bonding or lightning protection. The earth
resistance testing detects the conductivity of the soil, which helps
for the determination of the ground materials used (earth rods,
foundation earth electrode etc.).
Zero
The zero function (zeroing) measures the inherent resistance of the
test leads that will be subtracted from the absolute value to obtain
more precise measurement results.
Insulation
Isolation
resistance
In case of faulty insulation of a live conductor can result in risk of
fire due to leakage or danger to humans and animals through
voltage flashovers. To prevent this, isolation tests are carried out in
the electrical equipment.
Terminal
Voltage
The test voltage for the insulation test can be set to 125, 250, 500
or 1000V, and should be selected according to the mains voltage of
the test object.
Beeper
The beeper (buzzer) gives an audible warning, while the insulation
test is performed.
Lock
The insulation test is performed only while the TEST button is held
down. If the LOCK is activated, the test however continues to be
performed by a single button hit, until the TEST button is pressed
again.
Reference
The reference value for the insulation measurement can be set to
0.125, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 M ohms.
