1.2.2 Spares
In addition to the above,
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
spares may be ordered using the following part numbers:
1.3 About Safety
1.3.1 General Safety
The
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
has been designed to comply with a wide variety of international standards governing
the safety of laboratory equipment. Under normal circumstances, the
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
poses virtually no risk
to the user. Following these simple precautions will help ensure the continued safe operation of the instrument:
DO
make sure that
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
instrument is properly connected to the electrical supply; in particular
make sure that the ground (earth) is securely connected.
DO
maintain the
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
instrument in a dry location. Avoid spilling liquids into or on the instrument.
Clean all spills immediately. If anything spilled enters the instrument, switch off the power and call a service
engineer.
DO NOT
open the instrument underside covers. THERE ARE NO USER SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE.
Opening these covers of the instrument poses electrical hazards and will void all manufacturer warranties.
DO NOT
use flammable gas near the
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer.
The instrument contains a hot infrared source,
which could cause fire or explosion.
DO NOT
make any adjustments, maintenance or repairs to the
FTIR3.
Repairs should only be carried out by
qualified service engineers.
IF DAMAGE IS SUSPECTED
, disconnect the power otherwise the instrument may become unsafe. Some
potential indicators:
• The
FTIR3
shows visible damage;
• It fails to perform the intended measurement;
• It has been subjected to prolonged storage in ambient conditions that exceed the use and operating
parameters;
• It has been subjected to severe transport stresses
1.3.2 Electrical Safety
The
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
instrument has been designed and tested in accordance with the safety requirements
of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The instrument conforms to IEC publication 61010.1 as
it applies to IEC Class 1 (earthed) appliances. The FTIR3 Oil Analyzer instrument is rated:
•
IEC Installation Category II
- Suitable for connection to local level power supplies.
•
IEC Pollution Degree 2
- Usually only non-conductive atmospheric pollution of the equipment occurs,
however, a temporary conductivity caused by condensation must be expected.
Connect the
FTIR3 Oil Analyzer
instrument to a power supply line that includes a switch or other adequate
means of disconnection from the electrical supply. Only connect the instrument into a properly- grounded
electrical outlet. If a fuse must be replaced, ensure that the replacement is the proper type and proper current
rating.
