3.2.1 Sample Identification
All the information needed to identify an individual sample is entered on the Sample Identification Screen,
shown in Figure 3-16.
1. Select the Equipment from the drop-down menu, or alternatively, use the Search box if there are
numerous equipment profiles stored in the system.
2. Enter the interval of the sample (hours, km, etc). The Interval Units are set in the Equipment
Profile (see Section 3.1.1). The interval of the
Last Analysis
is displayed. If a value is entered
that is lower than the last tested interval, the field will turn orange and a warning will be displayed:
“Warning! Entered value is less than or equal to the previous sample analyzed”
, and the user will be
prompted to continue or go back to enter a new value.
3. Enter any comments. This field may be left empty if desired.
4. Click the chevron to initiate the test sequence.
3.2.2 Sampling Procedure
The following supplies are required to carry out the analysis of each sample:
20 ml Cleaning solution
(Parker Kittiwake FTIR3 Cleaning Fluid)
5 ml Oil sample
1
Syringe for cleaning solution (can be reused for the next sample test)
1
Syringe for oil sample (discard after each sample)
In addition, 20 ml of cleaning solution is recommended to flush the system at the beginning and at the
end of each day of testing (10 ml each time)
Before beginning the first test of the day:
1. The software will automatically run a self-diagnosis test on startup.
Ensure that the sampling compartment is empty during this test. Allow tests to complete before
continuing.
2. It is recommended to flush the sampling cell with cleaning fluid. Use a syringe to flush around 10 ml
of cleaning fluid through and follow this up by flushing with air using an empty syringe.
Follow the Sampling Procedure below to run an analysis:
1. Select equipment and enter the sample identification information as described in Section 3.2.1.
2. The screen shown in Figure 3-17 will appear. Remove the sampling cell from the holder if present.
