19.2 Functional characters for date and time
Use these functional characters to mark the automatically updated date and time. You can
specify the settings for the current and the expiry date and time.
Functional characters such as current date and time or lot are based on the system clock of the laser
marking system (“System settings” > “System clock configuration”). It may happen that the system
clock deviates from the accurate time due to errors of internal parts or low battery level.
Therefore, check the system clock in the laser marking system regularly to ensure that the date and
time are correct.
When the TIME HOLD IN (No. 22) input of the I/O connector turns ON, the current date and
time are retained. The marking process is performed with the time and date at the point at
which the input was turned on. In this particular case the functional characters for date/time
and lot are not updated. For details about the TIME HOLD IN input, refer to the “Setup and
Maintenance Guide”.
Settings
Specify the settings in the “Date/time” tab of the “Functional characters” dialog.
• “Date/time”:
You must specify the parameters for the expiry time in the “Function settings” tab in
advance, before you set the functional character.
Select the current or the expiry date and time. For the expiry date and time, set the
number that you configured in the “Function settings” tab. Select the expiry date to mark
the date with a specified period being added to or subtracted from the current date.
Setting range: “Current date/time”, “Expiry time” (numbers “1” to “16”), “Expiry time”
(global numbers “17” to “32”)
• “Number of characters”:
Set the number of characters for the display of the date and time values.
