1.13. CONNECTIONS
1. Connect the handset and handset cord.
2. Connect the telephone line cord.
3. Connect the power cord.
Note:
1. For your safety, the power outlet should be near the unit and it should be always accessible during operation.
2. If following message appears after you switch on the unit, it means that the fax paper set lever has been released:
Display: CHECK LEVER
Please return it to its original position.
3. A "NF" TAE wall jack must be available at the place of installation of this unit. If such a standard connection plug is not
available, please contact your PANASONIC dealer or your telephone company.
4. There should be no more than one answering machine and one telephone connected in series to this unit. In order to ensure
a trouble-free operation, all connected devices should fulfill the DIN 44.015 specifications.
5. In case of a power failure, the unit can not operate. Thus we recommend the use of a spare telephone, connected to the
jack, "EXT (RESERVETEL)".
6. If you use a telephone or an answering machine connected to the jack, "EXT (RESERVETEL)", please notice:
(1) From the moment the telephone is operated or the answering machine answers a call, the following message appears:
Display: EXT. IN USE
(2) From the moment you accept a call by unhooking the handset of the Telefax unit, the connection to the jack "EXT
(RESERVETEL)" is interrupted.
(3) No sound can be heard on the handset of the extern telephone during the function of the Telefax unit.
(4) In the TEL/FAX mode, calls are made through the Fax unit only. No calls can be answered on an external telephone.
Following connections are possible:
1. Connecting a telephone to the jack, "EXT (RESERVETEL)". The additional connection of an answering machine is not
possible because both lines are terminated.
2. If the unit is operated on a "NF" wall jack, you can connect an answering machine to the jack, " EXT (RESERVETEL)" or
to the TAE wall jack, "N". You can connect an external telephone to the TAE "F".
3. If the unit is operated on a TAE jack "NFN", all devices can be connected without using the TAE jack will not be used.
4. To make use of the connection possibilities of the TAE wall line plug, you must connect the TAE adapter cord to the unit!
