Connecting an amplifier with 5.1-channel audio input terminals
This unit has a built-in Dolby Digital/DTS Digital Surround decoder so you can enjoy surround sound encoded with these systems without having to
connect this unit to an amplifier with a decoder. The amplifier must have 5.1-channel discrete input terminals.

When you have finished connection

In “8 Speaker Setting”, select “1 Multi-channel” and make changes to suit your speakers (

page 39).
Speaker presence: Select “Yes” if the corresponding speaker is connected.
Select “No” if the corresponding speaker is not connected.
Center and surround speaker delay time (Dolby Digital DVD only) : Adjust if you cannot place your speakers in the optimum position.
Channel balance: Adjust the output level of the speakers to make up for differences in volume caused by different types of speaker or
distance.

Go to “7 Digital Audio Output” and set “1 PCM Down Conversion” to “No” (

page 37).

Turn off V.S.S. (

page 23) if you have connected a subwoofer, center speaker, or surround speakers as well as the front speakers. Sound will not
come from the other speakers if V.S.S. is on.

When playing DVDs recorded in MPEG 2 audio, multi-channel audio will be output as well as Dolby Digital or DTS Digital Surround.

Additional equipment and cables are not supplied.
