Web camera functions
The unit can be used as a Web camera if you connect
the unit and a personal computer or other device with a
commercially available USB cable.
The unit is compliant with USB Video Class and USB Audio
Class. The video and audio of the unit can be transmitted to
a personal computer or other device by using communication
software or other software.

Set the priority mode to “USB” before use. (page 65)
●
For the connection procedure, refer to “System example 7
(USB connection, Web camera)” (page 25 in the
<Basics>).
●
Audio can be output from the audio input connector
[AUDIO IN] of the unit to a personal computer or other
device.
●
There is no guarantee that operation will be possible
with all devices that have a USB port.
●
IP control, IP video transmission, and PoE+ power
supply can be used at the same time as these
functions if you use a LAN cable. However, some
limitations will occur to IP video transmission compared
with when the priority mode is set to “IP”. For details,
refer to “Priority mode (Priority Mode)” (page 8,
page 44, page 65, page 116).

The high dynamic range (HDR) function cannot be
used.

Controllable functions
The following functions can be controlled when the unit is
used as a Web camera.

The names of the functions are the names used in
Windows. Furthermore, values are shown as decimals.
●
[ ] indicates the actual function names.
Image adjustment [Video Proc Amp]
Brightness [Brightness]
This can be set in the same way as “Contrast Level” of the
camera menus and Web settings.
Setting range:
–10 to +10
●
This cannot be controlled when the lens iris is set to
manual adjustment.
Contrast [Contrast]
This is not supported by this unit.
Hue [Hue]
This is not supported by this unit.
Saturation [Saturation]
This allows you to set a function equivalent to “Chroma
Level” of the camera menus and Web settings.
Setting range:
0 to 6

Equivalent to –3 to +3 of “Chroma Level”.
●
If the shooting mode (scene) is set to “Full Auto”,
even if this setting is changed, the change will not be
reflected on the unit.
Sharpness [Sharpness]
This is not supported by this unit.
Gamma [Gamma]
This is not supported by this unit.
White balance [White Balance]
This allows you to set a function equivalent to “White
Balance Mode” and “Color Temperature” of the camera
menus and Web settings.

If this item is set to auto mode, “White Balance Mode”
can be set as “ATW”. Also, if auto mode is canceled,
“White Balance Mode” is set as “VAR”.
●
When this is set to VAR, you can set the color
temperature from 2400 K to 9900 K.
●
If this item is set to auto mode, the color temperature
cannot be controlled.
●
A white balance mode other than ATW or VAR cannot
be set. Use the camera menus or Web settings of the
unit.
●
If the unit is connected with a USB connection when
the white balance mode is other than ATW or VAR, a
white balance mode other than ATW or VAR will be
retained unless the auto mode setting is changed.
Backlight compensation [Backlight Comp]
This allows you to set backlight compensation in the same
way as “Back Light COMP.” of the camera menus and Web
settings.
Setting value:
0 (Off), 1 (On)

It is enabled when any of Contrast Mode, Gain, and
Frame Mix is “Auto”.
●
If the shooting mode (scene) is set to “Full Auto”,
even if this setting is changed, the change will not be
reflected on the unit.
Gain [Gain]
This allows you to set gain adjustment in the same way as
“Gain” of the camera menus and Web settings.
Setting range:
0 to 17
●
Equivalent to Auto, 0 dB, 3 dB, and 6 dB to 48 dB.

If the shooting mode (scene) is set to “Full Auto”,
even if this setting is changed, the change will not be
reflected on the unit.
Use of color [Color Enable]
This is not supported by this unit.
Power line frequency (Anti flicker) [Power Line
Frequency (Anti Flicker)]
This is not supported by this unit.
