10.4.2 FUNCTIONAL EXCEPTIONS
Some functions applicable with the IEEE-488 interface are
NOT
applicable with the RS-232 interface.
Specifically they are the following:
1.
All IEEE-488.1 interface functions (see UPC MANUAL sect. 5.6.1).
2. IEEE-488.2
commands:
*SRE
and
*SRE?
, are ignored, as Service Requests and Serial Polls
are not applicable. (para. 5.5.3.1).

*STB?
to obtain the Status Byte.)
10.4.3 FUNCTIONAL ADDITIONS
The following commands have been
added
to replace functions lost due to the removal of the IEEE-
488.1 GPIB. These commands are similar to the IEEE-488.2 Common Commands and fall into the
category of DEVICE CONTROL COMMANDS (see section 5.6.2 of the UPC Manual).
*DCL
DEVICE CLEAR - Causes a Hardware RESET of the UPC.
*LLO
LOCAL LOCKOUT - Puts the UPC into REMOTE with LOCAL LOCKOUT state.
*GTL
GOTO LOCAL - Restores LOCAL mode.
10.5 PHYSICAL
CONNECTIONS
Connection to the UPC RS-232 interface is made via a DB-25 connector on the rear panel of the UPC
SCU or POWER SOURCE.
