Fuel and oil
Fuel
WARNING
♦
Petrol is highly flammable. Never smoke in the vicinity of petrol and keep flames and
sparks at a distance.
♦
Wipe up spilled fuel before starting the machine.
♦
Stop the engine and allow it to cool down before filling with fuel.
♦
Keep open flames away from the area where fuel is stored or where
it is topped up.
IMPORTANT
A petrol mix must be used for
air cooled 2-stroke engines
. This can be purchased as
a ready product or you can mix the petrol yourself by following this procedure:
How to mix fuel
1.
Measure the correct amount of petrol and oil.
2.
Pour some of the petrol into a clean fuel container that is suitable for the purpose.
3.
Add all the oil and stir well.
4.
Add the rest of the petrol and stir again for at least one minute. Some oils can be
difficult to stir in petrol. It is very important that the two components are stirred
sufficiently, otherwise the engine can become damaged.
5.
Ensure that the container’s contents are clearly marked to avoid making a mistake
about the contents.
Recommended mix ratio:
Petrol 40: Oil 1
To extend the life of your engine, avoid
•
Fuel without oil (pure petrol) – It will very quickly cause serious damage to the
internal parts of the engine.
•
Oil for use with 4-stroke engines – can lead to soiling of the spark plug,
blockage of the exhaust vent or sticking of the piston ring.
