OPERATION (cont.)
6. Gradually add more water giving it a chance to mix in and keep an eye on the
consistency. A good mix should be smooth and plastic, not wet and runny or dry
and crumbly. The mix on the inside should come approximately 3/4 of the way up
to the top and then fall back into the mix, if the mix is not taken up the side, the
mixture is too wet.
Note:
One of the most common mistakes made when mixing cement is adding too
much water. Add water in small quantities. If the mixture does get too wet, sprinkle in
handfuls of ballast and cement until it firms up.
IMPORTANT:
Do not turn the mixer off while it’s full of material. Empty the drum with
the drum rotating.
7. When the mixture is the right consistency to use, empty the drum. Pour the mixed
cement by releasing the tipping handle (16) and rotating the drum to the empty
position (Fig.11) while the machine is running. Be sure to pour the mix slowly and
smoothly to avoid tilting the cement mixer.
8. When the drum is empty, turn the cement mixer off.
