Appliance Setup
A. Remove the Shipping Materials
Remove shipping materials from inside the
fi
rebox.
WARNING! Risk of Fire!
Close the ball valve before in-
stalling the splatter guard to prevent accidental lighting.
Remove the splatter guard before lighting the appliance.
B. Clean the Appliance
Clean/vacuum any sawdust that may have accumulated
inside the
fi
rebox.
C. Optional Accessories
Install approved accessories per instructions included
with accessories. Contact your dealer for a list of ap-
proved accessories.
WARNING! Risk of Fire and Electric Shock!
Use ONLY
Hearth & Home Technologies-approved optional acces-
sories with this appliance. Using non-listed accessories
could result in a safety hazard and will void the warranty.
D. Install Pilot Shield
Ensure the pilot shield is still in the position shown in
the photo below. Shipping could cause it to become dis-
placed.

E. Install Lava Rock
Pour lava rock into the burner pan and cover the burner
tube. The lava rock level should be at least to the bottom
of grate tines, especially from the back side of the burner
to the base pan, to reduce risk of sooting. DO NOT cover
the burner tube from the right grate support to the pilot
assembly. See Figure 8.2 and 8.3. There is extra rock
provided to cover the front of the
fi
rebox if desired.
