E-WHERE/INSTALLATION
The E-WHERE is easy to install thanks to the limited number of parts to fit inside
the vehicle and the limited number of electrical connections to make: +12V or +24V
(+30 directly from the battery); + 12V or +24V(+15 after key powering); earth;
odometer; reversing light; GPS antenna.
The E-WHERE can be installed on cars with 12V batteries or other vehicles with
24V batteries, in both cases with the negative pole to earth.
Before installing the E-WHERE certain internal parts of the vehicle must be
removed to allow the GPS antenna and the modules (E-WHERE and E-
WHERE/FPG1/A interface) to be installed; the cables to be laid and electrical
connections to be made: odometric signal, (+15),(+30), earths, etc.
The position electrical parts to which connections must be made can differ
according to the type of vehicle.
•
The module must be installed horizontally with a maximum inclination of +/- 5
degrees and must be integral with the vehicle. If not, the E-WHERE may not
work.
•
The screws fixing the central unit to the L-brackets (1.5 mm thick) must be:
M4 type; maximum length 6 mm.
•
Do not damage the GPS cable during installation. Do not subject the cable to
excessive pressure from surrounding object (seals, glass, sheet metal, etc.)
•
Use the metal support supplied with the GPS antenna onto which the aerial
adheres magnetically. This support must not be used if the antenna is
mounted externally.
•
Do not cover the GPS antenna and do not leave metal, similar objects and/or
electrical /electronic equipment nearby. Do not use any kind of paint.
•
Make good connections to the vehicle earth eliminating any traces of paint in
the contact areas and use graphite-based lubricants.
•
The (+15) fuse carrier, easy to reach, in case of failure is to be replaced.

Test of E-WHERE/FPG1/A Module
To testing E-WHERE/FPG1/A module:
•
supply wit 5Vdc on pin 1/J1 (pin 3 GND;
•
supply with –12Vdc on pin 1/J3 (pin 4 GND) and prove the electrical continuity
between 2/J2 –2 /J3 and 3/J2 – 3/J3;
•
supply with +12Vdc on pin 1/J3 (pin 4 GND) and prove the lack of electrical
continuity on pin 2/J2 – 2/J3 and 3/J2 – 3/J3.
