WR-Z16 User Manual

Timing

The main purpose of the WR-Z16 is to distribute ultra-accurate
synchronization through a timing network.

The device can be configured as a Grand- Master (

"External

Reference (GM)" on page 73

) to retrieve time from an external

source and then redistribute it using IEE1588-2008/PTPv2 or
White Rabbit protocols.

Through its vitual clock (

"Virtual Clock Overview" on page 47

)

centralization system, it allows to combine these protocols in mul-
tiple ways and enable resiliency by configuring multiple timing
sources. Additionally, an optional Holdover (

"Holdover" on

page 78

) oscillator can be included to maintain high accuracy

(1.5us < 24h after learning 3 days) even if all timing references
are down.
