5. How to Inspect and Service Parts
1) Oiled Parts inspection, Change, and refill
●
When this machine is shipped, it is not lubricated with oil. Before operating the machine, be sure
to check that it is lubricated with the described oil, in the described parts, and in the described
quantities.
●
To keep the machine in good operating condition, perform oil changes periodically.
●
When performing inspection, replacement, or lubrication of oiled parts, place the machine on a
flat level surface in a venilated area. Switch on the engine and warm it up to confirm it is working
properly. Then switch off the engine, allow it to cool down and remove the spark plug cord.
After switching off the engine, please wait at least 10 minutes for all parts to cool down
sufficiently before touching the machine. After the engine has stopped, the body will be very hot
and can cause burns if touched. Furthermore, oil will still be in the engine and transmission so
the quantity of oil remaining will not be exactly indicated by the dipstick.
●
After changing the oil, please dispose of waste oil appropriately.
■
Transmission oil inspection, change, and refill.
Inspection
Take off the oil plug at the end of transmission.
Look at the oil level through the oil inlet.
If the oil level is just below the oil inlet, there is sufficient oil in
the transmission.
Oil Change
After the first 20 hours and then every 100 hours.
Place the oil drain pan under the transmission.
Remove the drain plug to drain the oil.
Refill
Tighten the drain plug again, then remove the oil plug.
Refill with 1.06 qt.(1.0 litter) of transmission oil (#90).
■
Engine oil inspection, change and refill
●
When performing engine oil lubrication or replacement, wait for at least 10 minutes for the engine
to cool down and proceed with caution to avoid burns.
Inspection
Use the dipstick to check the oil level and quality.
If the oil does not lie between the upper level and lower level, replenish to bring the oil up to the upper
level. Take care not to over fill with oil.
When measuring with the dipstick, do not screw it in place.(GXV340)
