About the operating
instructions
• The information in this manual describes the
controls on the remote control. You can also
use the controls on the device if they have
the same or the same names as those on
the remote control.
Discs that can be
played on this unit
The “DVD VIDEO” logo is a trademark.
Expressions used for disks
• Title
The longest parts of the picture or sound
on a DVD disc, movie, etc. in the video
program, or the album name for audio
programs. Each title is assigned a number
that allows you to easily find the desired
title.
• Chapter
Parts of a picture or sound that are shorter
than titles. The title consists of several
chapters. Each chapter is assigned a
number that allows you to locate the desired
chapter. Depending on the disc version, no
chapters may be stored on the disc.
• Track
Sections of a picture or sound on a VIDEO
CD, Super Audio CD, or music CD. Each
track is assigned a number so you can find
the track you want.
• Index (CD / Video Index)
A number that divides a track into several
sections to make it easier to locate the
desired space on a VIDEO CD, Super
Audio CD, or CD. Not all discs contain index
numbers.
• Scene
On VIDEO CDs with PBC functions (p.
33) the menu screen, movies, and still
images are divided into parts that are called
“scenes”. Each scene is assigned a number
to make it easier to find.
