Alternator
Control indicator illum inates in red.
Illuminates for a few seconds when the
ignition is switched on.
If it illuminates when the eng ine is running:
Stop a nd sw itch off engine. Ba ttery is not
being cha rg ed: Engine cooling may not be
opera ting. Consult a workshop.

Elec tronic Stability Progra m (ES P),
Elec tronic Stability Control (ES C)
Control indicator illum inates or flashes in
yellow.
Flashing during driving:
System actively engaged - see page 118.
If it illuminates while driving:
System switched off or fault in Electronic
Stab ility Prog ra m (ESP) – see page 118.

Control indica tor illuminates in green.
Illum inates when the front fog la mps are on
– see page 75.

Electronic imm obiliser
Control indica tor illuminates or flashes in
yellow.
If it illum ina tes when the ignition is on:
Fault in the immobiliser system; the engine
cannot b e started - see page 21.
Instrument display
Tachom eter
Mak ing use of the tachometer helps to
save fuel; it indica tes the engine speed.
Warning zone on right: m aximum
permissible engine speed exceeded,
danger to engine.
If p ossible, drive in each gear in the low
eng ine speed range (between a pprox.
2000 and 3000 rpm) and maintain an ev en
vehicle speed.
