Self-help, vehicle care
Soft top car e
Particular care should be taken when
washing the fabric soft top. Carefully
vacuum the soft top before washing, to
rem ov e excess dust and dirt p artic les.
Wash in shade with a sponge (a chamois
lea ther will lea ve lint, while a brush may
abrade the threads) and use an Opel Car
Shamp oo and lukewa rm water solution.
Wash the entire top uniformly to avoid
rings or spots. Rinse with plenty of clean
water.
Remove surface water with a sponge and
allow to air dry. Be sure to allow the soft top
to dry completely before stowing , as
prolong ed stowage of a wet or dam p soft
top will ca use rotting of the fabric.
z
Remove bird droppings from the soft top
immediately.
z
Do not use agg ressive cleaning agents
or stain removers.
z
Do not direc t water jets on to the edges
of the soft top.
z
Do not use sharp-edged objects to
rem ove snow and ic e from the soft top.
Whilst the soft top is weatherp roof, it
cannot b e guaranteed to b e fully
waterproof if the v ehicle is w ashed in an
autom atic car wash. It is therefore
recommended tha t the vehicle is hand-
washed and that automatic c ar washes are
avoided .
Exterior stor age
Due to the soft top design being
weatherproof and not water tight in all
conditions, extended periods of rainfa ll
ma y result in som e w ater collection in the
passenger compartment. Therefore, it is
recommended that the vehicle is not stored
outside without a suitab le protective
covering such as a shower cover (availab le
from your Opel Serv ice Partner).
Waxing
Wax your vehicle regularly, in particular
after it has been washed using shamp oo
and a t the latest w hen water no longer
forms bea ds on the paintwork, otherwise
the paintwork will dry out.
N ever let things deteriora te this far.
Waxing p revents harmful chem ical action.
Also wax edges and folds on opened doors
and flaps as well as the a reas they cover.
Polishing
Polishing is necessary only if the pa int
has become dull or if solid deposits have
become attached to it.
Paintwork polish with silicone forms a
protec tiv e film, making w axing
unnecessary.
Plastic body p arts must not be treated with
preservation and polishing a gents.
Use Metallic Paintwork Wax on vehicles
with a metallic-effect paint finish.
