Maximum Data Capacity
Even with the same 2D code, the maximum quantity of information that can be stored depends on
the symbol size of the code. In other words, the symbol size must be increased to increase the data
capacity. The data capacity also depends on the type of characters used for the information con-
tained in the code. With QR and DataMatrix Code, the maximum number of characters for the same
symbol size will be greatest for numbers only and then for alphanumerics, and will be the least with
2-byte characters. The data capacity also depends on the character type, and the order and combi-
nation of characters used.
