Ultrasonic cleaning
Use a medical-grade, low-foaming detergent for ultrasonic cleaning (neutral pH
detergent or enzymatic detergent) and follow the manufacturer’s dilution and
temperature recommendations. Do not reuse detergent solutions.
Use a medical-grade ultrasonic cleaner with a sufficient size and depth to allow
complete immersion of all components of the instrument.
Operate the ultrasonic cleaner for at least 5 minutes (max. 15 minutes) at a
frequency of 38 – 47 kHz.
Switch off the cleaner’s heating system. Components must be cleaned at room
temperature.
• Vapor generated by the ultrasonic cleaning device may
contain infectious agents such as aerosol. Always use a face
screen and air exhaust during ultrasonic cleaning.
• Excessive detergent foaming can prevent fluid from
adequately contacting internal lumens (e.g. the inside of the
insertion section).
• Use only those detergents which feature validated processes
in accordance with national and local regulations and/or
guidelines. There is an infection risk when using insufficient
detergents.
• Use only solutions whose compatibility for cleaning
endoscopic instruments is certified by manufacturers, and
which are approved by a competent authority. Incompatible
detergents may considerably damage Olympus endoscopic
instruments.
• For details on the operation of the ultrasonic cleaner, refer to
its instruction manual.
