To protect the Water Bath fluid for a long period of use:
•
1ml/l water of Aqua Resist® water bath protective media
Tip
►
When using temperatures in the range of 0~50°C, use a mixture of 60% ethylene glycol and 40% water
in order to prevent the freezing of the medium (the solution will freeze at -45°C). Part of the liquid will
evaporate when using high temperatures, such as 40~50°C to have the chamber at 37°C, hence it has to be
topped up, keeping the same ratio.
A ratio of 60% Glycol in water corresponds to a specific gravity of 1.092 at 21°C; the specific gravity can be
easily checked with the help of a hydrometer. Add pure water or glycol in order to recreate the right mixing
ratio from time to time.
The time-saving alternative, if you are sure to work at 37° for long time, is to refill the tank with distilled
water only if the liquid evaporates; in this case the ratio will be modified and the liquid will not be usable
anymore at low temperatures, hence, when you need to switch to low temperatures empty the tank and
fill it with a mixture of 60% ethylene glycol in water.
