When transporting or storing the bike upside
down, air bubbles can form in the braking system
reservoir. This can aff ect the performance of your
brakes.
Cleaning the braking system
If the brake pads come into contact with oil or
grease, they will need to be replaced. If the brake
disc comes into contact with oil or grease, it will
need to be replaced. Failure to do so will hinder
the performance of your brakes signifi cantly..
Use isopropyl alcohol, soapy water or a dry cloth
to clean and maintain the braking system. Do
not use commercially available noise-reduction
solutions or cleaning products for brakes as they
may damage certain parts, such as the seals for
example.
2.5.2 Derailleurs
Your O2Feel bike will be delivered as carefully as
we can. Contact your approved O2Feel reseller
immediately if any faults occur.
However, here are some basic rules for your
rear derailleur:
The cable stops are the fi rst thing to adjust on
your rear derailleur. Quick reminder: the cable
stops defi ne the position of the derailleur from the
small cog to the big one and prevent the chain
from jumping. They are in the right position when
the derailleur moves from top to bottom without
derailing and when you don’t hear any clicking on
the smallest and biggest cogs.
– Adjusting the cable stop on the small cog side
(High cable stop): aligning the chain and the guide
roller with the small cog
– Adjusting the cable stop on the large cog side
(Low cable stop): aligning the chain and the guide
roller with the large cog
Remember that you need:
– to unscrew to move the stop towards the
outside of the frame
– to screw to move the stop towards the centre of
the wheel
Top tip:
You can adjust the cable stops without a
cable by manipulating the derailleur manually.
Your derailleur still doesn’t move to the cable stop
on the large cog side? Make sure your cable isn’t
too tight. Unscrew the cable clamp screw and test
the cable stops manually.
3. How do you adjust the tension of the
derailleur cable?
Before adjusting the cable tension, we recommend
loosening the cable, then positioning the adjuster
at the halfway point. This little trick is really useful
if you want to increase or reduce the tension later.
•
Position your chain on the small cog.
•
Manually pull the derailleur cable tight, then
adjust the tightening screw.
•
Check to make sure the gears change smoothly.
•
Adjust the tension with the adjuster to fi nd the
right setting.
If the gears struggle to go up: increase the tension
using the adjuster.
If the gears struggle to go down: decrease the
tension using the adjuster.
Make the adjustments gradually, making sure the
gears change smoothly and increasing/reducing
the cable tension.
4. The importance of making sure the gears
change smoothly for fi nding the right setting
It is really important to make sure the gears
change smoothly when you are adjusting your
rear derailleur! It must be suitable for the way you
actually use your gears.
