4.2.1 Toolchain (JN-SW-4041 or JN-SW-4141)
The toolchain is essential for all application development for the JN516x devices and
must be installed first, before the SDK for your chosen protocol. The required
toolchain installer may be JN-SW-4041 or JN-SW-4141, depending on the SDK
installer to be used.
JN-SW-4041
JN-SW-4041 is for use with SDK installers with part numbers of the form JN-SW-40xx
and installs a toolchain based on the Eclipse platform.
This installer includes the following:

Eclipse IDE (Integrated Development Environment)

JN51xx compiler for use by the Eclipse platform to build applications

JN51xx Flash programmer to load built applications into nodes

Cygwin CLI (Command Line Interface)
Application development for the JN516x device using any of the protocols is intended
to be conducted in the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE), which is
supplied in this toolchain. It is, however, possible to develop your application code
using another editor and to build it from the command line using makefiles.
JN-SW-4141
JN-SW-4141 is for use with SDK installers with part numbers of the form JN-SW-41xx
and installs a toolchain based on the ‘BeyondStudio for NXP’ platform.
This installer includes the following:

‘Beyond Studio for NXP’ IDE (Integrated Development Environment)

Integrated JN51xx compiler

Integrated JN516x Flash Programmer

MinGW CLI (Command Line Interface)
