Assembly of Shifter
Install right brake lever according
to the manufacturer’
s instruction.
Slide the shifter

onto the
handlebar
.

Install the right hand grip

onto the handlebar according
to the manufacturer’
s instruc-
tions.
Position the shifter such that
the display

is visible to the
rider and the cables will be
unobstructed.

Tighten the clamp bolt to
2.0-2.5 Nm (18-22 in-lbs).
Never use lubricants or solvents
to install handlebar grips.
Make sure that the shifter
and the brake lever function
properly and are unobstructed
(re-adjust if necessar
y).
Never ride without the
handlebar grips. The tur
ning
grip of the shifter could become
loose. This can result in a
severe injur
y.

Installing Shift Cable Housing
Route cable housing as shown
from the shifter to the hub inter
face.
Measure, cut and install the
appropriate length cable housing
(4)
for the bicycle.
f
Full-length housing is recom-
mended for both shift cables.
f
Make sure that the cable
housing lengths are sufficient
to allow an extreme tur
ning
angle. Also consider the influ-
ence of adjustable handlebars
and stems on the cable housing
lengths.
Secure cable housing to the frame.
f
The cable housing must remain
moveable for axle adjustments.
f
A
void tight bends when install-
ing the shift cable housing.
f
Leave at least 150mm of hous-
ing unsuppor
ted at the hub
inter
face

to ease installation
and removal of the shift cable
hardware.
W
ith housing length correct, install
end caps
(6)
at both ends of each
housing.
