DAS, SAS
, etc.: The bridge automatically labels this screen to identify
which of the three models of bridge is installed in the bridge and being
reported.
Port Type:
Displays the port function type in the bridge (on the left of the
dash) and the port function type to which it is connected (on the right of the
dash). Port function types are as follows:
A
The port of the DAS connects to the incoming primary ring and the
outgoing secondary ring of the FDDI dual ring.
B
This port of the DAS connects to the outgoing primary ring and the
incoming secondary ring of the FDDI dual ring.
S
The SAS connects to a concentrator.
Port Link State
: Displays one of the following states:
Disabled: Port is disabled, and the status is durable.
Inactive:
Port is disabled, but the status is not durable.
Ready:
Port is enabled, ready to accept a link.
Active:
Port is enabled, and the connection is established.
Port PMD Class
:
Identifies the physical cabling medium in use.
Multimode is multimode fiber;
UTP
is unshielded twisted pair.
Port Insert Into:
Identifies which of the FDDI dual rings, primary or
secondary, that this port is inserted into.
Link Error Monitor (LEM) Counter:
This counter indicates the quality
of the FDDI connection. It counts link errors seen by this receiver.
Link Error Rate (LER) Estimate:
This counter is a Bit Error Rate (BER)
indicator. The count range is 0-15 representing BER 10-0 (or 1) to BER
10-15. A normal LER is 12-15. If this estimate is higher than 15, check
the cabling on the port. A link will automatically be removed from the ring
if the LER reaches a cutoff value of 10-x, where x is specified by you.
