For operation of a SIM-Server two NMG systems are required, the SIM-Server and the SIM-
Client. The Sim-Client will be equipped with a CCU-3 and EWU’s . This realises the NMG’s
access to the GSM Network. The SIM-Server consists of at least one SCU and the SOS. The
SCU serves as a carrier for the SIM-Cards.
The IP interface of the CCU-3 of the NMG is network with the IP interface of the SOS of the Sim
server over the Internet. Thus it is ensured that the EWU has access to the data of the Sim Cards in the
SCU and is able to use this data.
The NMG can also be equipped with WAU’s, althought the WAU’s have no remote access to
the SIM-cards within the Sim-Server.
The Sim Client requests data of the Sim Card selected by the Sim server. This data is transmitted
from the Sim server to the Sim Client and used for the connection establishment.
With the start-up of the SIM server the SCU accomplishes first an on board diagnosis. After this is
completed, the assigned Sim Cards are identified, in which a part of the data is read (fast flashing
LED’s at the respective drawer signify this).
If the Sim Client requests the complete data of the Sim card , these will be completely read by the
Sim server. This complete read out can take up to 20 - 40 seconds depending on the
contents of the Sim Card, you should ensure that no Telephone book or SMSs are stored
on the Sim card as this will prolong the readout and the loading time. After the complete
readout of the Sim Card the data will be transferred from the Sim server to the Sim Client for its
further use.
