Configuring Server Load Balancing
This section describes the steps for configuring an SLB Web hosting solution. In the following
procedure, many of the SLB options are left to their default values. See
Load Balancing Options” on page 128
for more options.
The following is required prior to configuration:

You must be connected to the switch Command Line Interface (CLI) as the administrator.

The SLB software must be enabled.

Assign an IP address to each of the real servers in the server pool.
The real servers in any given real server group must have an IP route to the switch that per-
forms the SLB functions. This IP routing is most easily accomplished by placing the switches
and servers on the same IP subnet, although advanced routing techniques can be used as long
as they do not violate the topology rules outlined in
“Network Topology Requirements” on

For this example, the three Web-host real servers have been given the following IP addresses
on the same IP subnet:
