above the ground.
•
Ensure the sensor is mounted vertically (pointed at the ground). If the
sensor is facing forward or backward too far, the ultrasonic signal cannot
echo back to the sensor.
•
Ensure the sensor weather caps are removed from the sensors.
•
Check for obstructions between the sensor and the ground. Any object
between the sensor and the ground can deflect the ultrasonic pattern such
that it cannot echo back to the sensor.
•
Listen to the sensor for a ticking noise. If the sensor is not ticking, the
sensor may need repair.
•
Inspect and clean the protective foam shield (see Section 7 -
Maintenance).
•
With the protective foam shield removed, check the transducer foil. The
foil should be dry (free of condensation) and wrinkle free.
•
Sensor gain may have to be adjusted. This required access to the non-
user menu. Contact the Norac service department for assistance.
Swapping Sensors
A procedure useful for determining is an error is related to cabling or the
sensor itself is swapping sensors. Remove the sensor reporting an error
and one that is reporting correctly, and swap their locations. Also,
reenter the serial numbers into the control panel.
Example: Serial number 1001 is on the right, and serial number 1002 is
on the left. The right sensor is reporting ‘??’, and the left sensor is
working properly. Swap their locations on the booms, and change the
serial numbers in the control panel to correspond (right is now 1002, left
is now 1001).
If the same location still reports an error, the problem is with the cabling
on that side.
If the new location is reporting the error, the problem is with the sensor.
If a sensor is in need of repair, contact your dealer or Norac for service.
