Nokia IP71 User Guide
To configure password-based authentication
1.
Install the SSH client software.
2.
Start the SSH client.
3.
Set the SSH client to connect using username and password.
4.
Connect to the IP71.
Host: The LAN or WAN IP address of the IP71 (Default: 192.168.1.1)
Username: admin
Password: Enter the password. If you have not changed it through the
console, the default is
password
.
Note
The first time the SSH client connects, a fingerprint is presented and you
are asked whether or not you want to accept the connection. To view the
IP71 fingerprint, enter
show ssh
in the CLI. If the two fingerprints match,
it is safe to accept the connection.
Key-Based Authentication
To connect to the IP71 using SSH more securely, use Key-Based
Authentication. This requires you to generate a public key on the SSH client.
The key must have the following attributes to work with the IP71.
The key must be exchanged with the IP71 to authenticate. The key is too large
to enter into the IP71 through the CLI so it is converted into a fingerprint.
Fingerprints are a more secure way of transferring keys than passwords. The
CD that comes with the IP71 contains
fpgen.exe
a tool that converts an
SSH key to a fingerprint. Use the
fpgen.exe
to generate fingerprints.
