Setting Parameters

This function is substantially different from the channel profiles described above. Neither the
channel profile nor the flow velocity is taken into account here.
Communication
to possibly
connected flow velocity sensors will
be shut down
. This is why possible error diagnostics are
not going to consider the missing flow velocity value.
The system utilises a pure Q/h-function. This means that a defined flow value is indicated
depending on the currently measured level. The value is entered into a level-dependent value
table.
A maximum of 32 level-dependent breakpoints can be entered into this table. The transmitter
linearises between the individual breakpoints.
23.1.3 Sludge Level
In horizontal pipelines sedimentation may possibly occur on the channel bottom depending on
measurement medium and the flow velocity.
This parameter can be used to specify a fixed level of sedimentation within the pipe as
>Sludge Level<. The specified sludge level is calculated as "non-movable, partial surface of
the channel with horizontal surface located on the bottom". This level will be subtracted from
the wetted total hydraulic area prior to flow calculation.

Selection options
Radar:
• Average value
• COSP
Default setting:
"COSP".
NIVUS strongly recommends to maintain the setting since it provides the most accurate
results.
Remarks on Options
•
COSP:
COSP denotes a correction factor for flow measurements and considers the channel
parameters set as well as the resulting changes of the flow behaviour.
