16 Installation of sensors
This chapter describes the sensors to be used and the usual places of application. The instal-
lation of individual sensor types is described in greater detail in the according installation
instructions.
Note
During mounting works ensure compliance with all regulations on safety at work.
16.1 Sensor Installation Principles
The placing of sensors within a plant is vital for the reliability of measurement results. There-
fore observe proper hydraulic conditions and appropriate calming sections on the place of
installation. Sensor types as well as the respective fastening methods shall be determined
individually depending on the measurement place.
Conditions on how to select calming sections and the installation of sensors
are described in the according installation instruction.
The parameters of the measurement place shall be set prior to installation. Information on how
to prepare the measurement place as well as the according dimensions can be taken from the
plant documentation.

Note
Wetted sensors shall be installed by pipeline companies or plumbers only. The tightness of
pipes shall be guaranteed in each case.
16.2 Preparations for Sensor Installation

Setting the Measurement Place Parameters
Before entering sensor positions and sensor arrangement some parameters need to be edited
first. Based on the data entered the transmitter will compute the sensor positions for later
measurement.
The following parameters are required to set the measurement place initially:
• Sensor types used
• Canal profile
• Canal profile dimensions
