Recording Movies
High-definition movies can be shot with sound.
•
Regardless of the remaining memory on the memory card, the maximum length
for a single movie is 29 minutes.

Rotate the mode dial to
D
.
•
The monitor shows the amount of available recording
time.

Press the shutter-release button all
the way down to start recording.
•
The camera focuses in the center focus
area. The focus area is not displayed when
the movie is recorded.
•
When shooting high-definition or full
high-definition movies, the aspect ratio of
the shooting screen is switched to 16:9 (The movie is recorded in the range shown in
the screen on the right).
•
The monitor shows the amount of recording time remaining. Recording stops
automatically when the recording time runs out.

Note on Recording Movies
When the AF lamp blinks after shooting, the movie is being saved.
Do not open the battery-chamber/
memory card slot cover.
Cutting the power or removing the memory card before saving is complete
could result in loss of data or in damage to the camera or card.

External Microphones
Instead of the built-in microphone, a commercially available microphone can be connected to the
external microphone connector (
5) to record sound during movie recording or voice memos for
still pictures (
132). Use an external microphone that conforms to the specifications of “External
microphone connector” in “I/O terminal” (
218) in “Specifications.”

When the external microphone is connected,
