Notes on Face Priority
•
When
Face priority
is selected for AF area mode, the setting automatically switches to
Auto
if no
face is detected when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway.
•
If no face is recognized when the shutter-release button is pressed halfway in the
Portrait
or
Night
portrait
scene mode, the camera focuses on the subject in the center focus area.
•
The camera may not detect faces in the following situations:
- When faces are partially hidden by sunglasses or other obstructions
- When faces take up too much or too little of the frame
•
If the camera detects more than one face, the face that it focuses on depends on the shooting
conditions, such as whether or not the subject is facing the camera.
•
In some rare cases of shooting subjects for which autofocus does not perform as expected (
29),
the subject may not be in focus despite the fact that the double border lights in green. If you
cannot focus, change the AF area mode setting to
Manual
,
Center (wide)
,
Center (normal)
or
Center (spot)
, or try shooting with focus lock (
29) by switching the shooting mode to a mode
such as auto mode and refocusing on another subject at the same distance.
