Format Memory/Format Card
Use this option to format the internal memory or a memory card.
Formatti n g the i n ter n al memory or memory cards perma n e n tly deletes all
data. Deleted images ca nn ot be restored. Be sure to transfer important
images to a computer before formatting.

To format the internal memory, remove the memory
card from the camera.
The Format memory option is displayed in the setup
menu.
Formatti n g a Memory Card
Insert a memory card in the camera to format it. When
the memory card is inserted into the camera, the
Format card option is displayed in the setup menu.

• Do not turn the camera off or open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover during
formatting.
• The first time you insert the memory cards used in other devices into this camera, be sure to
format them using this camera.
