Using the PiMag™ Water System
The diverter pin
(Fig 7)
on the PiMag Water System allows you to
select between PiMag water and ordinary tap water.
IMPORTANT!
When PiMag water is selected, use only cold
water, not warm or hot.
For ordinary tap water, simply turn on the tap.
For PiMag water, turn on the cold water tap and then pull out the
pin on the diverter valve. After the water is flowing, you can
release the pin. PiMag water will continue to flow until the tap is
shut off
(
FIGURE 8
)
.
The diverter pin resets itself each time the tap is turned off. For
PiMag water, pull out the pin when you turn the tap on.
If the PiMag Water System has not been used for eight hours or
more, let the water flow through the system for one minute after
selecting PiMag water.
When the PiMag Water System is first installed, use the diverter
to select PiMag water and allow it to flow for five minutes. This
will eliminate air pockets, and clear the system of any carbon
dust. (It is normal for a small amount of carbon dust to be present
the first time the unit is turned on.)
If air pockets still remain in the unit (if the flow "spits" or is
uneven), turn the unit upside down, and allow water to flow with it
in this position for three minutes.
Check for any signs of leakage. If leaks occur, push in the diverter
pin to stop the flow of water through the system, or shut off the
tap. Check all the connections and retighten if necessary.
Replacing filters
All filters and the pi water element should be replaced at least
once every year, or after filtering 1,250 gallons. Filter life varies
depending on the quality of your water supply. Replacement more
often than once a year may be necessary.
To replace filters:
1. Turn off the tap.
2. Turn the PiMag Water System around so that the back end
faces you.
3. Using both hands, lift the cover of the system about one-quarter inch.
4. Pull cover toward you to remove
